July 2025 Newsletter

We love, serve, and gather in Christ.

Pastor’s Corner

Family of Faith:

Well, summer is fully underway as the weather gets hotter and hotter!! With our July 4th holiday, vacations are happening and hopefully, the pace of life slows down.

We have our Bible studies, Faith Formation and other programs paused for the summertime. It's a wonderful time of year to relax, lawn chairs on the porch, cookouts and everything summer.

Take time for yourself!! Rest and show down the pace remembering the Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 3:1: "There is a time for everything under the sun....."

God has created time, managed if for us, and urges is not to live under the shadow of time!! But, let time rest under the shadow of your lawn chair and iced tea, and rest!! After all, it's summer!!

God bless you, Pr Doug

Worship Planning Team

We are creating a Worship Planning Team to take over the planning duties that Brian Kochersperger has been handling for over the past ten+ years. The Team will meet periodically to plan the worship services; this historically has required 4 to 6 meetings per year. These meetings would be held immediately following worship, and last approximately 30 minutes, and our first meeting will be July 6th.

FLC subscribes to Sundays and Seasons, a worship planning tool that provides the Bible readings, prayers, and suggested hymns for each Sunday. The Team will be responsible for choosing details of the worship services, which we generally change at the beginning of new liturgical seasons, or mid-season for some of the longer seasons. This includes which “setting” to use from the hymnal, which hymns to sing, the use of optional language offered through the hymnal or Sundays and Seasons, and inclusion of elimination of any portions of the worship service based on what is appropriate for the season.

The team will include Kaleb (our music coordinator) and Pr. Doug when available. There is no maximum number of team members, so please consider joining us. No prior experience, theological training, or musical skill is required.

Please let Pr. Doug or Janice Damrow know if you are willing to join the team.

Wednesday Night Bible Study Zoom

Wednesday night zoom bible study is on summer break. Bible study will resume after Labor Day.

Faith Formation / Sunday Evening Zoom

Faith Formation: Is on summer vacation and will resume after Labor Day.

Food Pantry Date

The next food pantry will be held Saturday, July 19 from 9-11am. We ask you to please prayerfully consider joining us as we serve our neighbors. All volunteers are welcome and needed! Thank you to Premier Power Maintenance for the generous food donation.

Your contribution means a lot to us and the community we serve.

Independence Day

This day is very significant in American history. It marks the day the Declaration of Independence was adopted (July 4, 1776) and the United States officially became its own nation. American citizens celebrate America’s birthday with festivals, parades, fireworks, barbecues and other festive activities.

We want to thank all our service members (both current and retired) and their families for everything they have done and continue to do for our country. It is an incredible sacrifice. We hope everyone enjoys the holiday with their family.

Council Meeting Highlights

1. Thank you to Brian Kochersperger for his many years of service as Worship Coordinator.

2. Work continues on the Memorial Garden. The Memorial Garden committee is working with a concrete company to execute the plans for the garden's walkways. Watch for work times to help prepare the site.

3. There will be rain barrels set up to collect water for both the Memorial Garden and Faith's vegetable garden. We are excited for how much easier this will make caring for the gardens.
