September 2025 Newsletter

We love, serve, and gather in Christ.

Pastor’s Corner

Hello Friends:

A good friend of mine died in Christ a few weeks ago. Wes, and his wife, attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Carmel. They are the epitome of Jesus: loving others, serving in multiple ways, giving and full of faith that everyone could see!

Wes, to me, was a really good guy at his very base level. He loved the Lord, served as Lay Director of the Via de Cristo several years ago, and he cared about me and loved me. While in Chaplaincy, I was invited to stay at their home whenever I supplied King of Glory Lutheran Church. They always took me to dinner Saturday night refusing to accept my money for dinner!

He was town manager of Fishers for several years helping that city grow and develop. In 2000 when I graduated Seminary, I was looking for part time work until a church called! Wes got me a job with the Summer camp program in Fishers.

Wes reminded me of my Grandpa Ed. Both men "exuded" Jesus in everything they said and did. They both had great senses of humor, pride in their church and family and were real men of God. As I think about my Grandpa, and Wes, they literally seemed to live while they were dying! Life was theirs for the taking and they did! They lived to the fullest.

Let's do that also friends! As we enter into the "BER" months let's remember the song by Tim McGraw and let's "live like we were dying!"

God bless you,

Pastor Doug

Wednesday Night Zoom

Wednesday night zoom, 7pm Bible study meditates on and studies the Bible stories for the coming Sunday. Personally, I find there is no other way to better prepare for Sunday than to read over, study, discuss the Bible lessons that will be read and preached on this week. Just imagine as you hear the lector you are drawn in more deeply to the Scripture. Just imagine as I proclaim the Good News you are already acquainted and knowledgeable with the story to come.

Faith Formation / Sunday Evening Zoom

Sunday night Faith Formation, 7pm on zoom, offers study in a more relaxed way in group sharing and input on whatever topic/book of the Bible or resource we are studying. All of you from both churches are welcomed and invited.

Beginning September 7th, we will be studying “Anxious for Nothing” by Max Lucado.

Pastor’s Office Hours

Regular office hours will resume. Beginning September 9th, 2025, Pastor’s office hours will be Tuesdays 11-1pm. Come in and say “Hi” or schedule an appointment.
